About 30 days ago, was one of the happiest days in my life when I proposed to Inbar. Today, we picked out our wedding venue! We chose Camarillo Ranch. Things are moving quickly.
Choosing a venue was not an easy thing to do either. So many wedding venues and things to consider! Like, how many people it can accommodate, features, fees and a whole lot of things. Luckily Jane, our wedding planner, helped guide us through the process and the different perspectives to consider.
Hint, Hint.. Getting a wedding planner may cost some extra bucks, but it will help you save time and money making other costly mistakes. Jane’s the best and has lots of connections with wedding venues in Ventura, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and more. Check out her site at: JaneAlexandraEvents.com
Wedding Venue Considerations
After comparing all the pros and cons about each of the wedding venues, we finally decided that we wanted a venue that had a few key things for us:
- Availability of our date (7.7.17)
- Easy to travel to for family and friends
- Space(s) large enough to accommodate our guest list and festivities
- Flexibility on catering without the “nickle and diming”
- Had to have a “feel-good” vibe about it
There were other things that we wanted, but were willing to think creatively to get all those things accomplished (while on a budget!).
Besides having everything that we wanted, Camarillo Ranch had other features that made it more appealing to us. For instance, Camarillo Ranch is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. So unlike other venues, say a hotel for example, they will not be making any dramatic changes to the property. Nor will there be the possibility that the venue is sold to someone else who may decide to completely do something else with it.
Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of really nice wedding venues in hotels! It was just something that mattered to both Inbar and I after much consideration that we wanted a wedding venue that would give our “great-great grandchildren” the opportunity to see where we got married (hopefully they will appreciate that!).
What’s Next?
We are currently interviewing with different caters, and are working on getting our wedding photography to start sending out our “Save the Date” cards. Also, we will be creatively asking our groomsmen and bridesmaids if they will be joining us on our special day. We have also considered who we want to be our officiant, now hopefully they will accept the position!
Will be posting more soon, thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
The Groom
